Turning on an AllyA Submitted Strategy from: BobAoK Outpost note: While turning on your ally is a viable option in games without set teams, exercise caution when backstabbing as you could find the knife in your own back. If you're jealous of that heap of resources or that strategically perfect island your ally has,or if you just plain want to destroy him, then you might want to try this tactic. First of all, you need a sizeable attack force, which should consist of about 6 to 8 trebuchets, hand cannoneers, knights, bombard cannons, mangonels, swordsmen, & some skirmishers. If you're playing with a 75-100 population level, then you might not be able to have that many troops, but the trebuchets, bombard cannons, & some defending troops are definitely neccesary. Set up your trebuchets where the bulk of your ally's town is, which is usually farms & a town center. next, place your other miscellaneous siege weapons around important structures, such as castles & troop production buildings. throw in some troops around the trebuchets to wreak additional havoc. If your ally asks what you're doing, tell them you spotted a large enemy strike force coming to their base ar something like that. Once you have everything set up, set your diplomatic status to that ally as enemy, and watch the boulders fly. If your ally is human, then by the time they've realized what you've done, they will probably set you as enemies, too, but it's usually too late. If your ally is computer, it will try to plead with you to put your status to ally, so your troops will hardly suffer any damage. They will usually resign after the bulk of their town is destroyed, making it even easier. You can then reap their abundant resources & space, or just use it as a base. This cold-hearted invasion is much easiier than invading an enemy's town because you have time to set up right where you want to.
